Important Notice to Mariners, Published 04/01/09
This message was sent to the Alaska Maritime Training Center on
04/01/09 from the Assistant
Senior Inspector of Personnel USCG Anchorage:
"Hello,
I wanted to share with you a major change
to operations at the Regional Exam centers nationwide. On March 18, 2009,
all regional exam centers in the country went to an appointment system. If
you would please start putting that out to your students it will be a huge
help to them and us. They can schedule an appointment on the NMC website for
any office nationwide.
www.uscg.mil/nmc
Once on the page they will see a hyper link for "Regional Exam Center
Locations"
Once they click on that link it will take them to a map of the US
where they will select the state they wish to go to and once in that state
if there is more than one REC they will be able to pick which office they
wish to schedule an appointment with. Once on the office page they will see
a calendar they must click and select what date and time they wish to come
in.
Once they complete the process an email is sent to us informing us of
the upcoming appointment. We are now open thru lunch and are now open on
Friday's to the public. We can not accept applications after 300pm. We will
continue to try to accommodate walk-in traffic but appointments must be
handled first.
We are trying to curb any negative impact on the mariner and
appreciate your assistance in getting the word out.
